7:00 – Grief Share ~ Lesson 4 “Emotions of Grief – Part 2.”  This lesson deals with such emotions at loneliness, fear, depression, self-pity, bitterness and regret.

7:00 – The Blessed Group will meet at Camp Brokenbridge.  Bring your lawn chairs and a roasting stick.  In case of bad weather, we’ll be meeting at Jerry & Jane De Blaey’s.

Pastor Gerry and Jan will be attending the ordination of their son-in-law, Keith Starkenburg, as Minister of Word and Sacrament within the Reformed Church in America next weekend.  Keith is teaching in the religion department at Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, IL.  Please contact Pastor Luke, Pastor Rick or on the elders in case of an emergency.

 

Please check your mailboxes for information about the upcoming Consecration Sunday to be held October 19th.  The Rev. Wayne Van Regenmorter, who holds the position of Synod Visionary Leader, will be our guest preacher.

 

If you would like to give to the Iowa Flood Relief, please place your donation in the offering plate in a marked envelope and the deacons will send all contributions to the RCA Iowa Flood Relief.

 

We Need You!!  The prayer partner program is in need of more people to pray for our young adults.  The forms are available on the welcome centers and will explain what the program is about.  This is a great ministry - be a part of it and encourage our college students and post-highers.

 

The Evergreens meeting for October will be held on Oct. 1st.  We will have a guest speaker, Sheriff Hilke, who will share with us about senior citizen scams.  There’s a sign-up in back of church.

 

Next Sunday evening is The Bridge.  Join us as we worship together!  The message will be “How do you get rid of your bitterness?”  There will also be an interpretive dance with Praise You in the Storm.

 

An informational sheet is available on the welcome centers regarding the Adult Colorado retreat next summer.  If you have further questions, please contact a member of the committee: Jerry & Jane De Blaey, Scott & Bonnie Ongna, Jim & Barb Cook, Ken & Lynne Te Beest, Rick & Jane Ten Dolle, Larry & Lynn Reimes.  This retreat is for ages from the “Strive” group through “Evergreens.”

 

The Evergreens bus trip to “Christmas in the Dells” on December 11 is now open to anyone. Gibbsville Reformed Church Cadets – It’s time for our new season.  1st thru 5th Grade boys,

you are invited to join Cadets this year.  Our Fall Kick-Off will be Monday, October 6 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at Camp Broken Bridge.  It is about 1 mile north of GRC on Hwy 32.  The lane is on the east side of the road.  Please come for fellowship, a campfire, and for more information about the 2008 / 2009 season.  Feel free to bring a friend that might also be interested to join.  Hope to see you then.

SPECIAL EVENTS AND OPPORTUNITIES

Sheboygan Christian School’s Dutch Apple Pie Sale has begun!  Orders must placed by Friday, October 3rd, 2008.  A standard 10” pie costs $10.00 and a 6” pie costs $5.00.  Orders can be placed by calling Lori at 208-6786 or online at applepies.sheboyganchristian.com.  Pies can be picked up Monday, Oct. 20 until 10:00 PM and Tuesday, Oct. 21 until 5:00 PM.

 

The Back Row Tenors (BRTs), a nine voice men’s singing group, will present a benefit concert to raise medical support for Joel Tempas.  The Handbell Choir will also offer numbers during a prelude and intermission.  Please mark your calendars for Sunday, October 19th at 7:30 PM and join us at First Reformed Church, 927 Superior Avenue, in Oostburg.  More details will follow.
