*After a long and valiant fight with cancer, Jean Wensink passed away late Wednesday night.  Please pray for Roger, Heidi, and Stephanie in their time of bereavement.  Also, for Melvin & Donna Wensink, Gail Wensink, and Mike & Laurie Wensink and their families as well as other members of the Wensink family.

*Congratulations to Alan Michelle Dulmes who welcomed Fisher Lee into their family on August 26th

*Terry Mentink continues to seek treatment for the infection in his leg which prohibits healing.

NOTICES & ANNOUNCEMENTS:

The Sunday School Department is looking for several teachers for Sunday School.  Classes in need are the following: Kindergarten, 2nd Grade, and 5th Grade.  A music leader is needed for 1st-8th grade.  We are also looking for individuals who will be on a list for substitute teaching.  If you can help in any of these areas, please contact Shad Tenpas 467-1390.

 

The Prayer Partner program will be starting again.  If you want to participate, please sign-up at the Welcome Centers.  This includes college/post high students who want a prayer partner and anyone who is willing to partner with a young adult.

 

Choir begins its fall schedule with the first practice Wednesday, Sept. 10th and singing Sunday, Sept. 14th.

 


RE:  Bible Class –Have you been looking for an opportunity to serve?  We are looking for a teacher for fifth grade.  Please prayerfully consider and contact Jim Huenink if you can help.

 

Bible Class teachers may pick up their teaching materials in the church office.

 

Please note:  Bible Class for grades 1-12 begin on Wednesday, Sept. 10th, at 7 p.m.

 

Healing Hearts Grief Share will be starting a new series of meetings next week, at 7:00pm.

 

Reminder~ there is a variety of Scrip available in the church office during the week.  Good for back-to-school shopping.

 

The Ronald McDonald House is in need of meals for families staying in their facility.  If you would be willing to help, sign up in back or contact Rick.  This is an excellent ministry opportunity for our church.

SPECIAL EVENTS AND OPPORTUNITIES

Pine Haven Autumn Festival (this Saturday, Sept. 6th) – If you have craft or produce items for the sale or have donated pies or cake, please have these in the church kitchen by 9:30am Saturday, Sept. 6.  Thank you in advance to those who volunteered to help in any way.

 

Our Moms Need You!  Oostburg Area MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) is looking for volunteers to care for children ages birth-5 during our meetings.  We meet the second and fourth Thursdays of the month from 9am-11am at First Reformed Church in Oostburg.  MOPS International exists to encourage, equip and develop every mother of preschoolers to realize her potential as a woman, mother and leader in the name of Jesus Christ. friendship ministries:  Believe it or not, it is that time of year when Friendship Ministries (also know as Friendship Club) starts up again.  We are a community ministry to cognitively impaired adults.  Friendship Ministries consists of a Bible study with one-on-one time with a teacher, a craft time as well as an opportunity to sing together many favorites of the students.  We meet the 2nd and 4th Mondays from September through May at the First Christian Reformed Church, 216 S. 7th Street in Oostburg from 7 to 8:30 p.m.  Please join us for our first meeting of the year on Monday, September 8, at 7 p.m.  We welcome new faces—both students and teachers.  If you would like more information, contact Gwen Gesch at 668-6727 or 946-1008.
